Estimate the wage cost of a staff roster
One row per person: their hourly rate and their hours on each day. Set what each day costs as a multiplier, and the estimate adds up by person, by day and for the week.
| Person | Rate | Mon | Tue | Wed | Thu | Fri | Sat | Sun | Cost |

A worked example
Three people at a cafe, with Saturday entered as 1.25 and Sunday as 1.5.
| Person | Rate | Hours | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nadia | $34 | 8 a day, Mon to Fri | $1,360.00 |
| Tobias | $32 | 8 a day, Tue to Sat | $1,344.00 |
| Priya | $29 | 6 on Sat and Sun | $478.50 |
| Week | 92 hours | $3,182.50 |
How it is worked out
Each cell is hours × that person’s rate × that day’s multiplier. A row adds up to the person’s cost, a column to the day’s, and the week is the sum of every cell, rounded to the cent.
What this tool cannot tell you
- Which rate, loading or penalty applies to anybody
- Superannuation, payroll tax or workers compensation, unless you add them into the rates
- Overtime, allowances or minimum engagement
Questions
Where do the rates come from?
From you. Enter each person’s hourly rate and the multiplier for each day, and the tool multiplies. Nothing is looked up.
Can I include superannuation?
Add it to the rates if you want it in the figure, and say so when you share the estimate. The tool adds nothing you did not enter.
How is this different from Roster Flow?
This is a one-off estimate you type in. In Roster Flow the estimate adds up as you build the roster, from rates and loadings set once, and updates whenever a shift moves.
