How to install Roster Flow on an Android phone
On Android, Chrome can install Roster Flow as a web app, so it opens from its own icon on the home screen. These are the steps from Google’s Chrome Help, with the buttons to look for at each one.
The short version
Before you start
- Use Chrome. Google’s steps for installing a web app on Android are written for Chrome.
- Accept the invite first. The email has a Set your password button, and invite your team explains what happens next.
- Sign in, from the invite or the sign in page, before installing.
Install Roster Flow from Chrome
Open Roster Flow in Chrome and sign in
Use Chrome itself. If the invite opened inside another app, open the sign in page in Chrome and sign in there.
ChromeTap More, on the right of the address bar
It is the button with three dots, at the end of the address bar.
MoreTap Install and create shortcut, then Install
Follow the instructions Chrome shows on the screen to finish.
Install and create shortcutthenInstallOpen Roster Flow from the icon
Installed web apps are opened from the home screen or the launcher. Roster Flow opens to Home, the first screen staff see when they sign in.
Roster Flow
The quicker way, when Chrome offers it
When Chrome is ready to install Roster Flow, Home shows a box headed Add Roster Flow to your phone with an Add to home screen button, which opens Chrome’s own install. Not now hides the box for 30 days. If the button is not there, the More menu above always works the same way.
After it is installed
- A clock in or clock out made with no signal is kept on the phone and sent when the signal returns or Roster Flow is opened again. Breaks are not kept that way, so start and end a break with a signal.
- Updates arrive on their own. When a message says a new version of Roster Flow is ready, press the button beside it to load it. There is nothing to update in an app store.
- If location or the camera was refused by mistake, allow it again in the phone’s settings for Chrome, then open Roster Flow again.
Uninstalling it
Google’s steps are to open Settings, tap Apps, then See all apps, tap Roster Flow and tap Uninstall. The account, shifts and hours are not affected, and Roster Flow can be installed again from Chrome at any time.
If a step is not there
- No Install and create shortcut. Check Roster Flow is open in Chrome itself, not inside another app, then open More again.
- No Add to home screen button on Home. Chrome shows it only when it is ready to install the app. Use the More menu instead.
- A different browser. Other browsers have their own menus. The steps here are Google’s, for Chrome.
For managers
Send each person their invite first, as invite your team sets out. Roster Flow on staff phones covers the first clock in, and anyone with an iPhone or iPad can follow the iPhone steps. The hours from each clock in come through for review and approval.
