What is in the file
- Template, blank, with each question down the side and room for the answer.
- Example, the same sheet filled in for Harbour Street Books.
- How to use, with the steps and the mistakes below.
How to fill it in
- Fill in the dates, including any part days, and the type of leave.
- List the shifts the leave lands on, so cover can be found.
- The manager decides and writes the decision down, and whoever runs payroll records the leave there.
- Check the balance in payroll rather than on the form, because payroll is where leave is accrued.
Common mistakes
- Leave approved without looking at the shifts it lands on
- Leave recorded on the roster but never in payroll, or the other way round
- A balance written on the form from memory
When a spreadsheet stops being enough
In Roster Flow staff ask for leave on their phone, the shifts it runs into are named before you decide, and balances are read from Xero or MYOB when payroll is connected.
