What is in the file
- Template, blank, with 31 rows under date, day, opening and the rest.
- Example, the same sheet filled in for Harbour Street Books.
- How to use, with the steps and the mistakes below.
How to fill it in
- Fill the dates down the first column for the month.
- Put each shift under the part of the day it covers, with the name and the hours.
- Mark public holidays and events in the notes before you place anybody.
- Share the month, and treat each week as settled a week ahead, because a month is long enough for availability to change.
Common mistakes
- Publishing a month and treating it as fixed when availability changes week to week
- Missing a public holiday that applies in your state but not in the example
- Leaving the closing shift empty on a day the shop still trades
When a spreadsheet stops being enough
Roster Flow builds a week at a time and copies it forward, with the public holidays for your state already on the calendar.
