What is in the file

  • Template, blank, with 24 rows under date, guard, site or event and the rest.
  • Example, the same sheet filled in for Sentinel Site Services.
  • How to use, with the steps and the mistakes below.

The hours column is a formula, not a number typed in. It takes the finish from the start, counts a shift that runs past midnight correctly, and takes off the unpaid break.

How to fill it in

  1. Put one shift per row, with the site or event it is for.
  2. Plan a night shift and the day after it together for anybody rostered on both.
  3. Record site inductions and anything specific to the post in the notes.
  4. Check each guard holds the licence the post needs, and check the award for breaks and rest between shifts.

Common mistakes

  • A guard on a twelve hour night rostered again the next morning
  • An event shift starting before the same guard’s site shift has finished
  • Licence expiry dates kept in somebody’s head rather than written down

When a spreadsheet stops being enough

Roster Flow rosters guards across sites set up as venues, handles shifts past midnight and records the clock in at each site. It does not track security licences.

Questions

What is on the security guard roster template?

7 columns: date, guard, site or event, start, and 3 more. The blank sheet gives you 24 rows, and the example is the same grid filled in for Sentinel Site Services: day, night and event cover, with twelve hour shifts.

Does the security guard roster template work out the hours?

Yes. Hours is a formula, not a number typed in: it takes the finish from the start, counts a shift that runs past midnight correctly, and takes the unpaid break off. Type a start and a finish and the hours follow.

Can I use the security guard roster template in Google Sheets?

Yes. Open security-roster.xlsx from Google Drive, or use File, then Import, then Upload with security-roster.csv. The grid and its example come across either way.

Do I need an account to download the security guard roster template?

No. security-roster.xlsx, security-roster.csv and security-roster.pdf are plain links. There is no sign up, no email address asked for, and nothing to install.
