Free clock in and clock out sheet
One sheet on a clipboard by the door for a whole day. Everybody signs in and out with their initials, so there is a record of who was on site, and when.
| Name | Time in | Initials | Time out | Initials | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aroha Ngata | 08:00 | AN | 10:00 | AN | 2.00 |
| Diego Ramos | 18:00 | DR | 20:30 | DR | 2.50 |
| Sam Lee | 18:05 | SL | 20:30 | SL | 2.42 |
What is in the file
- Template, blank, with 20 rows under name, time in, initials and the rest.
- Example, the same sheet filled in for Kent Street Offices.
- How to use, with the steps and the mistakes below.
The hours column is a formula, not a number typed in. It takes the finish from the start, counts a shift that runs past midnight correctly, and takes off the unpaid break.
How to fill it in
- Put the sheet where people arrive, with a pen that stays with it.
- Each person writes their own time and initials, in and out.
- Whoever is in charge checks the sheet at the end of the day and signs it.
- File each day’s sheet so it can be found when the timesheets are done.
Common mistakes
- One person signing in for somebody else
- Sign out times filled in the next morning from memory
- Sheets thrown away once the hours are typed into payroll
When a spreadsheet stops being enough
Roster Flow replaces the clipboard with a clock in on each person’s phone, with the distance from the site and a photo if you want one.
