Free fortnightly roster template
Two weeks side by side, so a pattern that repeats by the fortnight, or a pay period that runs by it, is planned on one page. Comes with a filled in cafe fortnight.

What is in the file
- Template, blank, with 12 rows under name, role, mon 1 and the rest.
- Example, the same sheet filled in for Harbourside Coffee.
- How to use, with the steps and the mistakes below.
How to fill it in
- Put one person on each row, with the role they cover.
- Write each shift as start and finish, like 06:00-14:00. A shift past midnight is written the same way: 22:00-02:00.
- Plan the weekends as a pair: whoever works the first Saturday often has the second one off.
- Check the fortnight against each person’s availability and any limit on their hours before you share it.
Common mistakes
- Copying week one into week two without checking the leave booked for the second week
- Treating the fortnight as a pay period when the two do not start on the same day
- Checking a visa work limit week by week when it is counted across the fortnight
When a spreadsheet stops being enough
Roster Flow shows each person’s running hours as you build, and warns before somebody passes a fortnightly hours limit you have recorded for them.
Questions
What is on the fortnightly roster template?
17 columns: name, role, mon 1, tue 2, and 13 more. The blank sheet gives you 12 rows, and the example is the same grid filled in for Harbourside Coffee: fourteen days on one sheet, for teams rostered or paid by the fortnight.
Does the fortnightly roster template add anything up for you?
Yes: a count of the filled cells across each row. They are live formulas in the Excel file, so they follow whatever you type into the 17 columns.
Can I use the fortnightly roster template in Google Sheets?
Yes. Open fortnightly-roster.xlsx from Google Drive, or use File, then Import, then Upload with fortnightly-roster.csv. The grid and its example come across either way.
Do I need an account to download the fortnightly roster template?
No. fortnightly-roster.xlsx, fortnightly-roster.csv and fortnightly-roster.pdf are plain links. There is no sign up, no email address asked for, and nothing to install.
