Free restaurant roster template
Kitchen and floor on one sheet, with service times at the top so every shift lines up with the service it covers. The example is a bistro doing lunch Thursday to Sunday and dinner every night but Monday.

What is in the file
- Template, blank, with 14 rows under section, name, role and the rest.
- Example, the same sheet filled in for Marlow Street Bistro.
- How to use, with the steps and the mistakes below.
How to fill it in
- Write the service times at the top and plan the kitchen first: prep starts before the floor does.
- Write a split shift with a slash, like 10:30-15:00 / 17:00-22:30, so the gap is visible.
- Put the most experienced floor person on the busiest service, not the longest one.
- Check the week against availability, and against any split shift and break rules in the award.
Common mistakes
- The floor starting at the same time the doors open, with no time to set up
- A late close followed by an early prep shift for the same cook
- A Saturday dinner with no kitchen hand on
When a spreadsheet stops being enough
Roster Flow lets somebody work two shifts in a day, prices the week as you build it, and sends the approved hours to payroll.
