What is in the file

  • Template, blank, with each question down the side and room for the answer.
  • Example, the same sheet filled in for Marlow Street Bistro.
  • How to use, with the steps and the mistakes below.

How to fill it in

  1. Ask as early as possible, and say exactly what change is needed.
  2. Suggest who could cover, if you know.
  3. The manager checks cover and anybody’s hours before deciding, and writes the decision down.
  4. The change only counts once the roster shows it.

Common mistakes

  • A change agreed in passing and never written down
  • An approval that leaves a section short for the rest of the night
  • A decline with no reason, which brings the same request back next week

When a spreadsheet stops being enough

In Roster Flow a manager changes the shift on the roster, and the change is kept in the audit trail with who made it and why.
